This plastic gauze is ideal for covering the holes in the bottom of pots to prevent soil and nutrients falling out but at the same time permitting drainage. Most mixes will not fall through the bottom of the pot as they are compacted by the weight of soil. If however you are a bonsai enthusiast you will sometimes use flat or very small pots and with these types of pots compaction is not always effective and mix will just fall out endangering the plants life. If you use specialist bonsai mix or make your own they also tend to be a bit coarser than ordinary mixes which means they need to be contained more carefully.

This gauze is not just for bonsai enthusiast. The sheets can be easily cut and fitted to the insides of troughs, square or round pots. Virtually any size hole you are likely to encounter can be covered with this gauze. When I grew bonsai I used to use metal gauze but I felt that that interacted with the soil in an adverse way and so I switched to a plastic netting but that was fairly difficult to attach. This gauze is much stronger than netting and will not sag or bend easily. This is a bulk deal with 18 sheets in this pack 30cm by 10cm in size.
