This ‘mini greenhouse’ is a great way to provide that little bit of help to a plant that is cold sensitive or could also be used in an area where you expect frost. The plastic cover of the dome has small holes in one side of the base and also near the top to allow a little air to circulate to prevent fungal problems. The design of this mini greenhouse is so simple and yet quite robust. Once the two rods have been ‘planted’ in the ground and the cover put on the tension of the dome holds it firmly in place.
The six domes come in a flat pack and is very easy to assemble. It would probably take no longer than 5 minutes or less for each one. If you are using when the weather warms up you can progressively cut out the plastic as temperatures increase. Refer to the pictures to the left to get the idea of how you can nurture your plants from seed or very young seedlings when the exterior weather is cooler than you would like. You should get a couple of seasons out of each Mini Greenhouse if you are careful.
