Bundilla Magic

by Joy Lancaster

Once again, on Sunday, 15th January, members of T.D.H.S. enjoyed the company of members of the Moe Historical Society for a day of fun and fellowship at Bundilla. We made our own way there and after leaving the main road, we wound our way up hill and down dale through the picturesque countryside to Coalville, arriving at Bundilla mid-morning.

Bill Ringin escorted us on a tour of the property. We were taken down quite a steep slope to the track beside the creek where various trees, planted by the family, and flood damage were pointed out. In earlier times Coalville was larger than Moe and this creek supplied Moe with water.

Back at the barbecue area we ate our picnic lunch and chatted with the new arrivals, then it was time for the entertainment. We started with the "Step the Chain" competition and then had Andy read to us the poetry of C.J. Dennis. Our final entertainment came from Peter Cook who mystified us with his magic. The enthusiastic young volunteer from the audience wasn’t quite so keen to put his arm under the guillotine when he saw what happened to the raw carrot! And I think Dorothy Steer is still wondering how her $50 note ended up inside a uncut lemon that was in a plastic bag full of other lemons several feet away from where she was standing.

Time for another cuppa and to say our farewells. Our thanks to all who helped to make this such a pleasant day out and especially to Kath and Andy for again inviting us to Bundilla.
