| January 1962: Land at the northem end of Breed Street formerly known as Stone's land and finally as the Chinaman's Vegetable Gardens, was officially named Agnes Brereton Park. |
| March 1962: "Kildare", the 2-storey College in Kosciusko Street, built at a cost of £250,000, was officially opened on 11th March. |
| "Trans-Eastern Motel", on the Princes Highway, opened,at a cost of £75,000. |
| Traralgon Historical Society was formed on 7th March following a public meeting at the Borough Offices, when 14 people were present. Dr. Charles Bridges-Webb was elected inaugural president. |
| "Back-To" held in Gormandale. Pony Club formed, with 20 young members, at Mr. P. Grubb's home. |
| Moondarra Reservoir and pipe-line officially opened by Premier Henry E. Bolte. |
| 75th Anniversary of M.U.I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 6719, first formed in Traralgon in 1887. |
| March 1962 - The "Journal" reported some local history - That "In the 1880s Cr. Peterkin owned Clauson's Corner, at the corner of Franklin and Argyle Sts., then Mr. Woodyatt, and at the end of the century Mr. W.D. Leslie of Sale. In 1902, Mr. John Couper, proprietor of Gippsland Trading Company, bought from Leslie, and a new building with a tower was built. John Couper's son, Les, took over in 1914-18, when his partner brother was killed at the war." |
| One of only two D.2 locomotives left - No. 604 (50 years old, built in England, and used for shunting by A.P.M, for the past 7 years,) was donated to the Museum at Newport. It used oil instead of coal. |
| June 1962: The extensions on the south end of the Presbyterian Church were officially opened and dedicated. They cost £l0,000. A.P.M.'s Maryvale Mill celebrated its 25th birthday in June. There were still 18 original employees on the roll. |
| July 1962. After 38 years' association, Mr. W.A. Thompson sold the "Journal & Record"' business to Elliott Provincial Newspaper Group. |
| August 1962 Fish and Game Society held its annual Smoke Night in the Drill Hall which was packed. |
| Mr. H.T. Cooper, ex photographer of Franklin St., died in Melbourne. |
| Reported that a Mr. Harry Edgar Webb had a butcher's business in Hotham St, in about 1902 (Wyeth's Dry Cleaners) and later went to Gormandale. |
| October 1962: Wolfgang Becker, assisted by Bruce Greaves, Robert Aldersea and Ray Crosbie, painted scenes of old Traralgon, which filled the walls of the hotel Bar at McGauran's "Grand Junction Hotel". |
| 17 Rotary Club members unveiled a Memorial Cairn on Mt. Tassie. |
| Argyle St, panel-beater, Mr. Bill Johnson, designed and built a caravan, the "Coronet" . |
| November 1962: A.P.M. house at 8 Garden Grove, was destroyed by fire. |
| Mr. Hugh W. Linaker, late of Kay Street, died at Ballarat. |
| The "Journal" published a good aerial photograph of Hobson's Park, on 6th December. |
